Treat your mind and body to a soothing bath tonight, with your very own bath tea steeping as you soak.
You can easily create your own bath tea bags using the following bath tea recipe. Bath teas are a great way to enjoy the benefits of taking a salt bath with natural herbs without having the extra clean up afterwards.
For each tea bag you will need:
-5oz (about a handful) of unscented sea salt or scented bath salts
-1 tsp of your favorite dried herbs (popular choices are lavender, chamomile, rose petals, mint, and rosemary)
-Muslin tea bags (approx. 4 x 5.5 inches)
-Sting or yarn to tie
Place the bath and spa salts in the muslin tea bags and tie the string around the top to seal the tea bag (leave about 12 inches of extra string)
When you are ready for your bath, tie the tea bag to the faucet and allow it to steep while the water is running. Keep the tea bag steeping as long as you are in the tub.
As we all know, time takes its toll on us and as we get older we seem to search more and more for the real fountain of youth. We begin to see changes in ourselves, from fine lines and wrinkles to a few more gray hairs. New U.S. Postal Service Ad Campaign features San Francisco Salt Company
Out of 3,000 companies considered to be profiled in U.S. Postal Service’s latest advertising campaign, San Francisco Salt Company was one of only three chosen.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 20, 2012 - San Francisco Salt Company (SFSC), known for their extensive selection of spa salts and gourmet chef salts which they ship to customers all over the country, were selected to be a part of the United States Postal Service’s new promotion for their Flat Rate shipping service.
The new ad campaign profiles three growing businesses who are leading their niche market using U.S. Postal Services products. “I think the fact that we were chosen to be part of this campaign says a lot about our reputation, commitment to customer service, and quality of products. This year marks our 10 year anniversary, so being independently chosen by the U.S. Postal Service is a really proud moment for us that came at just the right time,” says Lee Williamson, founder of San Francisco Salt Company, which offers salts from around the globe including Dead Sea Salt, Himalayan Salt and Epsom Salt.
The new video campaign, which is currently available through the United States Postal Service YouTube channel, was filmed at two of the San Francisco Salt Company’s locations last month.
“We have been shipping with U.S. Postal Service since 2002 and their shipping system helps us keep things simple. We actually develop products with the size of the flat rate boxes in mind. It takes away a lot of the guess work while preparing shipments as we know what we’ll be able to fit in each box and how much it’s going to cost,” explains Williamson.

The fact that we can fit twenty to twenty-five pounds in a single flat rate box and ship it to anywhere in the U.S. for the same rate whether it’s going to New York or Hawaii is great. Bathing in natural sea salt is a wonderful way to get soft skin - but bathing isn’t the only way you can use sea salt. Bath salt made from sea salt is filled with minerals and nutrients which naturally occur in the ocean and are beneficial to our skin. Soaking with them is great, but you can also use the salts to scrub away rough dry skin and reveal softer, more supple skin underneath.
Exfoliation involves sloughing off dead skin cells through the use of granular substances such as salt. Seeds, clay, and items such as loofahs and sea sponges are also used. In addition to scrubbing away old, dull skin, exfoliation opens the pores and makes it much easier for your skin to absorb lotions, serums, and other beauty products.
While in the bath or shower, simply grab a handful of your favorite bath and shower salt and rub it gently on your skin, then rinse. Concentrate on the soles of the feet, the elbows, backs of arms, and other places that need extra softening. To top it off, use your favorite lotion. You’ll be softer in no time!

You’ve probably heard it before. You tell a friend you took a nice, long relaxing bath, and her response is: “But when you take a bath, aren’t you just soaking in your own dirt?”
Let’s examine this argument for a minute. Chances are you’re not squeaky clean when you first step into the tub. You lie there and soak – for 15, 20 minutes. There’s a ring on the tub when you’re done. Ewww, gross.
But hold on - the ring on the edge of your tub is a good thing, and here’s why. Bathing is an incredible way to cleanse your skin – much more effective than showering. When you take a shower, you quickly rub some soap on your skin, rinse, and get out. Thing is, you’ve only washed the outermost layers of your skin. Bathing in warm water, preferably with bath salts, draws impurities from deep inside your pores, cleansing you on a much deeper level than a simple shower. The dirt around your tub is dirt that has left your body – dirt that probably wouldn’t come out after a quick shower.
The warm water opens up your pores. The water, enhanced with the minerals and nutrients in your bath salts, is able to seep into nooks and crannies in your skin that water from a shower won’t hit. Oil, soap residue, pollutants and impurities rise to the surface and are drawn out and are gone forever. To answer your question, all the gunk that has left your skin will not come back in. Once it’s out, it’s out – and down the drain for good.
