The best part about Spring are the beautiful flowers. The worst part about it are the allergies that come along. Use these 5 remedies to help you shrug off seasonal allergies!
1. Use the Neti Pot:
ENT’s have recommended the neti pot tactic since before we can even remember.
Boil water with 1/2 teaspoon of pure Himalayan salt. Wait until the sterile saline solution has cooled and pour into the pot. While tilting your head to one side, drain the water through both nostrils. Be cautious: use ONLY sterile water and don’t use regularly. The Neti pot solution to allergies is only for adults.
2. Take an Allergy Relief Bath:
Epsoak Everyday Allergy Relief by San Francisco Salt Company is a great way to soothe aching muscles and relieve congestion. It is made with magnesium sulfate infused with essential oils known to clear the sinuses, relieve headaches, and relax the body and mind. Soak in this all-natural blend of Epsom salt while practicing deep breathing. Enjoy the therapy for 15-20 mins.
3. Start your day with a Spoon of Local Honey:
Seasonal allergies always start with pollen, and the honey we eat is made by bees who pollinate those flowers. Eating 1 tablespoon of honey every day allows your body to familiarize itself with local pollen. This remedy isn’t immediate but if done consistently overtime, your body can eventually become desensitized to pollen. Pro tip: Drinking warm water mixed with local honey and lemon first thing in the morning can also help with weight loss!
4. Use an Essential Oil diffuser:
Essential oils can provide an array of therapeutic benefits, invigorated by your senses. Eucalyptus oil is one of our favorites for Allergy Season. Its great for opening up the lungs and sinuses, while improving circulation. Eucalyptus also contains an effect that helps flush out toxins and reduces inflammation. Set up a diffuser in your room, bathroom, or even at work.
5. Orange Juice:
A glass of classic orange juice can help you survive allergy season. Vitamin C is known to help boost your immune system and keep you going throughout the day. When you’re body is exposed to allergens, your histamine levels are triggered. While taking antihistamines like Claritin can help, you can naturally reduce histamine levels with orange juice.
